Srinagar, July 02 (KNO): A traffic police official allegedly abused and assaulted a student on Jammu-Srinagar highway near Nagrota on Tuesday. The student who is from South Kashmir's Anantnag district complained to KNO that he was assaulted by a traffic cop without any provocation. The student was identified as Mushtaq Ahmad. Speaking to KNO over phone, he said that he was on the way to Srinagar but at Nagrota he was asked not to move ahead until 03:00 PM, because of Yatra. “But tomorrow is my paper and if we are not allowed to move forward, we may miss our examination,” the student told KNO. He said that they requested police official who he identified as JD Pani to allow them to travel towards Srinagar, so that they will be able to sit in examination tomorrow but he didn’t accepted their plea. "We showed him our identity cards but instead of listening to our plea, he abused, assaulted me," Mushtaq Ahmad said, adding that the cop hurled the choicest abuse and used unparliamentarily language. "He punched me several times and also slapped on my face. I begged him for mercy, but he didn't stop," he said. (KNO)
